Many of Gernandt’s instruments include custom inlay designs. He has developed his own standard designs, but others usually start with the customer’s initial ideas. These custom co-designed inlays reflect the personality of the individual creating a truly “one-of-a-kind dream instrument”. Drawings are made and material choices are finalized prior to the actual inlay process. Some material choices include White, black, or gold mother of pearl, Abalone shell, different woods, silver, brass etc. All of Gernandt’s inlays are hand cut from the chosen materials.
